空港から遠いため選択肢に無かったのだけど、大石林山に行きたいと思い、今回宿泊することに。 マップと口コミでパームコテージが駐車場から近くて便利だと思い予約したが、ガーデンビラにアップグレードしていただいた。 フロント近くで、売店、レストランに近くて良い場所だったし、広くて綺麗な部屋、広いテラス付き、水回りはゆとりがあって、同じビラの部屋と入口が離れていて一戸建感があって大満足だった。 オフシーズンで混み合うシーンは無くて 良い滞在になりました。

Far Beyond Expectation

It was a nightmare staying at Okuma Private Beach Resort. We spent four nights and opted for the Grand Marionette Room. We are bringing with us our service dog as this establishment pride itself as pet-friendly. Upon check-in on the 23rd of October, practically there was no one checking us in at 16:30 and we were left unattended for almost half an hour. Finally the duty manager came upon my request and completed the check-in procedure. To my surprise, I was asked to move my own luggage from the lobby to the Grand Cottage as there weren't enough bellboys. For the first time in my life, I had to push the luggage trolley up and down the slopes and moved all my luggage into the room located on the 3rd Floor. Subsequently that evening, we dined at the hotel restaurant called Iju, food was okay and one of the female staff was very helpful. They accommodated our service dog and when I started to think things were finally in order, there was all of a sudden a firework display just about 20 meters away from where we dined. Our dog was terrified and jumped off the pet stroller and ran away. As a service dog, he's normally very calm but he had never been trained to tackle the loud noise and sparkle from firework display. I chased my dog for a few blocks and finally managed to catch him, and luckily he was not injured nor ran over by traffic. I complained to the duty manager as it turned out they had full knowledge of the firework display schedule but did not forewarned me about such a thing, even they knew I had a dog with me. If I had known that there was going to be a firework display in the middle of our meal, I would most likely be staying in my room to avoid any unnecessary accident happening. Again to my surprise, when I asked the reception, this hotel has had no room service. On top of no room service, they also did not provide any laundry service. All they have is a number of coin washing machines and drying machines and everything is by way of self-service. Another bad experience I had with this hotel related to their house-keeping service. We went out sightseeing on the 26th of October, and we left the hotel at 10:15 a.m. and the hotel helped prepared my car from the valet service and therefore they knew we were out. We returned to our room at 15:05 and the room was not tidy-up at all. No one came to service our room. When I complained, they said their house-keeping service runs from 10:00 to 17:00, and therefore cleaning up after 15:00 is perfectly normal. If that's the case, I wonder how could people checked-in at 15:00, their published check-in time. I know I am not staying at a top notch five stars' hotel, but Okuma said it's a four stars' hotel. To me, it was not even four stars', but three stars at most! They are terribly short of staff, and all I could see, the ones providing service were elderly people and therefore service was either non-existing or inefficient. I would advise people staying elsewhere at all cost and I certainly will not be going back to this hotel when I am next in Okinawa.

毎年のリピータです。スタッフの対応も気持ちいいですし。お部屋の綺麗さ、ホテル独自のアクティビティも充実してます。スパも宿泊者には最高ですー朝食も美味しいものたくさんです。

Beautiful beach, breakfast service not so good

We initially planned to stay here in 2020, trip was cancelled because of the pandemic. Stayed here first week August, and the rates are very high. For the price, am expecting some more. Was disappointed during breakfast -- we had to queue and wait, although if you look inside, there are several tables that are unused but also not cleared. Seems there's lack of staff. Also there were tables outside which could have been assigned to the guests if they are ok. The beach is beautiful, but a bit disappointed, the beach water was not what I expected, it's a bit murky.. Seems very different from the pictures and videos I saw at Youtube :( Overall in Okinawa, the beach is not so clear really, you can only find clear water at the outlying islands, we went to Zamami and the beach was super clear.

Pleasant Stay at Okuma Private Resort

Okuma Private Beach & Resort is really a special place. It is located very near or within (hard to tell) Yanburu National Park, a World Heritage Site. All lodgings are across the road from the beach, pool, beach club and spa. My room was spacious and comfortable enough, but basic (think diving lodge-ish) in need of an update/facelift. It didn’t bother me because I wasn’t really in the room except to change and sleep. My included breakfast buffet was very satisfying and included many local dishes and fresh fruit. Both the dinner buffet and the Japanese restaurant were good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. If you don’t speak Japanese you may have to rely on your translate app. at times. The property and all of its offerings are vast and varied and should satisfy any reasonable guest. Watersport opportunities abound. I enjoyed the sunset catamaran. The morning snorkel provided great a snorkeling experience with lots of sea life. There are free daily bicycles available for one 2 hour borrow per person. It is great, to go cycling in the local neighborhoods. A free tourist bus stops in front of the hotel and brings you throughout Yanburu National Park with options to get off and get back on one of the next buses at many different stops. I think the bus makes 4 trips a day. With notice, the hotel will bring you to the public bus stop. It is about 1/2 mile from the hotel (or you can walk in the sidewalk). It is very easy to get to Ogimi Village in a few min or Nago on a longer ride by local bus. The hotel has a free shuttle with reservations only from Naha that operates one time a day to and from Naha for arrival and departure of guests. It is 2+ hour trip one way. It is very efficient to use this service. I only used it to get to the resort: pick up was at 13:15 at a local Naha hotel near the bus station. I am glad I chose this hotel and would use it again if I find myself in Northern Okinawa main island.
